Artist Brief: Silent Veil Gallery Show

Exhibition Theme:

Silent Veil explores the intersection of fashion photography and art, incorporating three key

Elements:

1. Fashion Photography as Art:

Submissions must elevate fashion photography to a level that transcends the commercial

realm and speaks to artistic expression. Each piece should demonstrate a refined balance of

style, emotion, and aesthetic, positioning fashion as a form of high art.

2. Anonymity:

The work must evoke anonymity, where the subject’s identity is obscured or partially

concealed. Techniques such as shadows, masks, abstract angles, or creative framing should

be employed to make the subject unrecognizable, allowing the viewer to engage with the

image in a more interpretive way.

3. Abstraction:

Submissions should incorporate elements of abstraction, drawing on principles of abstract

art. Play with light, colour, texture, or composition to create an unconventional, stylized

image that pushes the boundaries of traditional photography. The result should feel abstract,

yet maintain a visual link to fashion.

Mood & Tone Guidance:

The tone of the work should evoke a sense of mystery and allure, using subtle details to captivate

the viewer. Whether through minimalism or rich textures, the focus should remain on creating a

powerful visual statement that resonates artistically. We encourage you to experiment with both

dark and light tones, as long as the final image conveys depth and intrigue.

Technical Requirements:

• Orientation: Portrait.

• Aspect Ratio: 4:5 (the image must be shot or cropped to fit this aspect ratio).

• Resolution: The image must be of a high enough resolution for printing at A0 size (33.1 x

46.8 inches or 841 x 1189 mm). A resolution of at least 300 DPI (dpi: dots per inch) is

required to ensure quality when enlarged for exhibition purposes.

• File Format: High-resolution JPEG or TIFF suitable for large-scale printing.

Exhibition Date:

The gallery exhibition will take place on 28th MARCH.

Submission Process:

You may submit up to 3 images for consideration, along with a short artist statement (150 words

max) explaining how your work aligns with the themes of the exhibition. Submissions should be

sent via email to [contact info], or uploaded via [platform] by the submission deadline.

Image Rights & Usage:

By submitting your work, you grant us the right to exhibit the image(s) and use them for

promotional materials for the Silent Veil exhibition, both in print and digital formats. All other rights

remain with the artist.

Additional Guidance:

• Natural or studio lighting may be used, but the lighting should enhance the abstract quality

of the image.

• You may draw inspiration from abstract portraiture or modern art, but we encourage you to

develop your own distinct artistic interpretation.
